About Nick Curry

Nick studied at the Butler School of Piano Technology and is an Associate of the Piano Technician’s Guild (PTG). He currently serves as Treasurer of the Western Massachusetts chapter of the PTG.

As an organbuilder, Nick has worked with Richards, Fowkes, and Co., and J.L. Weiler, Inc. Since 2019, he has worked alongside master organbuilder Stefan Maier. He has experience in all areas of organbuilding and with both mechanical and electric actions. He has worked on organ projects in the Midwest, New England, The Bahamas, and Sydney, Australia.  He studied organ performance with James Russell Brown at the Music Institute of Chicago, and has served many Episcopal churches as a musician.

Nick also has over 15 years of experience teaching courses in philosophy and the humanities.  Having taught in middle school, high school, college, and continuing education programs, he estimates that his students have ranged in age from about 12-80.  He has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and his dissertation, The Philosophy of Musical Instruments, draws on his practical experience as an organbuilder.
